August Pfluger
U.S. Representative for Texas
August Lee Pluger II was born in December 1977 in Harris County, Texas. He earned an undergraduate degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He received master’s of science degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Air University, and Georgetown University. He served on active duty in the United States Air Force for twenty years.
Pluger served in the Air Force Reserve once he left active duty. He served on the U.S. National Security Council (NSC) during President Trump’s administration. He resigned from the NSC to run for the U.S. House of Representatives. He won and assumed office in 2021.
Pluger is married to Camille, and they have three children. He is Protestant.
In the News…
U.S. Congressman August Pfluger of Texas introduced legislation that would require the director of the U.S. Secret Service to be confirmed by the Senate. The position is currently appointed by the president without legislative branch approval.
Representative Pfluger stated, “Our country was millimeters away from a presidential assassination. We must provide adequate security for all presidential candidates – no matter their party affiliation.”
He stated the purpose of the bill is to ensure future Secret Service directors are “capable and apolitical.”
